Prototype
In 2019, LACROIX Group consulted me to work on the interface of a dashboard that would allow the executive committee to have a synthetic view of key information regarding the performance and activities of the group and all its Business Units (BUs).
CHALLENGE
How can we present the key figures of the group and its business units to the members of the executive committee, in order to facilitate their decision-making process and alert them when necessary?
ASSIGNMENT
The interface needed to display the figures for the 3 activities (Electronics, Environment & City), as well as those for the group, and aggregate the results from 9 areas of expertise. The prototype I was about to design would serve as a guide for the developers tasked with creating the tool using Microsoft BI (Business Intelligence).
This tool was developed to drive the transformation plan of the group, prior to initiating the new multi-year plan in January 2021.

« We presented the mockup, and we were able to receive direct feedback from the people who are our key users. The prototype and iterative approach led to something truly satisfying. Showing a mockup provides a clear idea of the project’s objective to all project stakeholders. »

KEY LEARNINGS
Understanding the capabilities of tools such as Microsoft Power BI (activity reports, data visualization, etc.) and collaborating with the developers in charge of this project was enriching. We needed to find a common language and make the right compromises to create a realistic prototype that we could test quickly.
Aligning such a large number of stakeholders is not always straightforward, and I am very grateful for the respect that Vincent Bedouin (President of the LACROIX Group) showed toward my work and expertise during this mission. Implementing new tools within an organization is not simple; it requires users to adapt and change their habits (e.g., some people were still inputting their data into dedicated spreadsheets). As designers, it is not always easy to convince our clients to adopt our proposals. However, on this project, I had his support and trust.
« People have to want to change before there’s any chance of helping them to do so. »
« Il faut que les gens aient envie de changer avant de pouvoir les aider à le faire. »
